Alfalfa Hay For Sale

We raise, harvest, and bale a protein rich fine-stemmed variety of alfalfa which is highly digestible and nutritious. We prepare this hay especially for horses, so extra care is taken (we do not crimp) when cutting and baling our hay to eliminate the blister beetle problems that can occur with hay prepared in other ways. This is weed-free superb quality hay with approximately 97% Alfalfa and 3% Brome grass. Our 2003 hay tested as follows:
RFV-relative food value: 121.7 (good alfalfa is rated at 100.0),
Color: 3.75 (up to 5 being the highest score possible),
Condition: 13.5 (up to 15 being the best possible score),
Smell/Aroma: 4.5 (with 5 being the highest score possible),
Purity: 11.5 (with 15 being highest possible, note the brome content counted as 'foreign' material since we entered for pure alfalfa contest),
Protein: 18.2% (how many of you are feeding grains for your protein/nutrients? no need to grain with this hay, it also tested at very appropriate levels for calcium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorous).
Average bale weight is 60 lbs depending on various factors. Please contact us for details and availability. Bale prices vary by cutting, but normally range from $4.00 per bale to $6.00 per bale.
